Dear Parents and Caregivers,
Welcome back to another busy but exciting Term. It is lovely to see our students settle quickly back into their school routines. It is also nice to see them making the most of the lovely weather.
Due to the growth in student numbers, we have been fortunate to employ a part time teacher, Mrs Teresa Alcock. She will be working with our Room 6 students. Teresa comes with over 9 years teaching experience and I know the skills and experience she brings will enhance our school.
We are also in the process of employing a new Teacher Aid to work with the teachers and students in both Room 1 and 2. This will be yet another great asset for our students and the school.
Teacher Professional Development is very important to Tokomaru School. Keeping up-to-date with the latest teaching
and learning technique is vital for successful learning. Therefore, our teachers will continue to work with Mrs Christine Braid, Literacy Advisor from Massey University. Our focus for the Terms 2-4 will be based around improving students reading. She will be working with teachers both in and out of class.
Our Fitzherbert Cluster Group will also be working with Dinah Harvey, Numeracy Advisor. This will involve working as a cluster and examining ways to improve student Maths achievement. Our ICT contract is still ongoing.
Yet again, I would like to thank the Home and School Association with the new concrete pathway at the front of the school. This has enabled our students to easily access the playground.
Regards Jared Ratana
